Are you interested in Becoming a Capital District Kiwanis Lt. Governor-at-Large?
Four Kiwanis divisions currently do not have 2025-26 Lt. Governor-Elect – a position that should have been filled nearly a year ago. These individuals are slated to serve as 2026-27 Lt. Governors beginning October 1, 2026. These divisions have not been able to find a candidate to serve as of this date. In addition, an appeal was made to every club officer in the affected divisions by the Governor-elect to help find a candidate in their division earlier this year.
Capital District Kiwanis recently completed a training conference in Ocean City, Maryland for the 2026-27 Class of Lt. Governors. These Kiwanians are now moving forward with preparing for their term of office. Since the support of our clubs is so critical, an alternate path is now being pursued.
For Kiwanis divisions that aren’t able to elect a lieutenant governor, the Capital District Bylaws permit the Board of Trustees to appoint an active Kiwanis member from a club outside that division to serve as a Lt. Governor-at Large. This position allows the clubs to still receive communication from the District and provide remote assistance to clubs, without the requirement to make in-person club visits. Please note that these roles still require a time commitment, including organizing divisional events and attending district events.
Applications are now being accepted for up to four candidates to be selected as Lt. Governor-at-Large. If you are interested in being considered, please complete the application below.
Per Capital District Bylaws, having served as a Club President is required to be eligible for this position. If you have not met this requirement, your application will not be considered.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so early submissions are encouraged. The deadline is June 30, 2026. Once submitted, applications will be evaluated and Governor-Elect David Lurie will contact you with further information if selected for a role.
Kiwanis clubs in the affected divisions will be notified in early July as Lt. Governors will begin scheduling contact visits shortly after they complete their training.
A virtual training session is currently scheduled for July 11, 2026 for candidates selected.
For any questions, please reach out to Governor-Elect David Lurie at [email protected] or (703) 402-5959.
