2021 District Education and Leadership Conference
August 20-22, 2021

This year, Capital District Kiwanis will hold an Education and Leadership Conference in place of our normal District Convention. This event is open to ALL Capital District Kiwanis members and will be a hybrid event.
Registration Options (ALL attendees, Kiwanis member and guests, must fill out the registration form separately):
- Virtual Attendance – $25.00 (members selecting this option will receive a Zoom link to watch all events on Saturday, August 21st LIVE while they take place in Roanoke)
- In-Person Attendance:
- $140.00 – Package Registration (includes 4 meals on Saturday & Sunday as well as all registration materials)
- $30.00 – Event Only Registration with the option to choose meals on an a la carte basis
In light of the ongoing pandemic, in-person registered attendees will be REQUIRED to agree to a standard Kiwanis International Release of Liability and Assumption of Risk during the registration process.
All in-person attendees will be required to comply with Federal, state and local requirements regarding indoor meetings active at the time of the event to include social distancing and the wearing of face masks.

We have a VERY LIMITED room block for this event with only 60 sleeping rooms available each night (Friday and Saturday). Once this block is filled or expires on August 5, 2021, we cannot guarantee availability or the discounted rate. Please make your reservations NOW to avoid missing out!
Cancellation Policy: Registration cancellations will be accepted in writing (by email) up until August 14, 2021.
The workshop and speaker schedule will be published here no later than July 1st.
Declaration of Emergency Condition
At the May 16, 2021 meeting, the Capital District Kiwanis Board of Trustees declared that an Article VI, Section 16 emergency condition still exists which prevents the holding of our 2021 District Convention.
Section 16. In the event the District Board shall determine by resolution that there exists a condition of emergency that compels cancellation of the annual district convention, the Board shall notify Kiwanis International and district clubs immediately and shall determine one of the following methods to transact any and all business that was to be transacted at the annual convention, as soon as practical. The preference will be to reschedule the convention, if possible, or, alternatively, to call a meeting of all persons having the status of delegates-at-large at district conventions, a quorum of which shall be a majority
This notice shall serve both as notification to all clubs in the Capital District of this action, but also to indicate that we will still hold a smaller in-person educational conference at the Hotel Roanoke in Roanoke, Virginia, the weekend of August 20-22, 2021 and will conduct our business session in-person using delegates-at-large (2020-21 District Officers and all Past Governors) per our bylaws.

Official Call for Amendments and Resolutions
Per Article XIII, Section 1 of our bylaws:
A club, by majority vote of its active members, may propose bylaw amendments to be considered at any convention of the district, provided they are submitted to the District Secretary-Treasurer not less than sixty (60) days prior to the date of the convention. Bylaw amendments may also be proposed by the District Board.
Clubs have until June 22, 2021 to send any proposed amendments to the bylaws to the District Office to be considered.
The District Board of Trustees is proposing several amendments to the District Bylaws. The information for those amendments has been distributed to all club secretaries and presidents via email and is officially posted here on the District Website.
