Service Project – Baltimore Read Aloud Book Donation

For our service project this year, we are partnering with Baltimore Read Aloud to provide books to children who otherwise may not have access to them. We are requesting attendees either bring a book to MidYear for donation or purchase through the link below.

2025 Capital District Kiwanis Book Campaign

Even if you do not intend to attend MidYear, anyone can participate thanks to the online ordering option.

According to data provided by Baltimore Read Aloud, kids who grow up in homes without books have a literacy rate 50% below average. In Baltimore, only 24% of students are proficient in reading (English Language Arts).

While you may bring any book to donate, please visit this site and click “Preview the Curated List” to see the books that are specifically requested.
