Promote Yourself and Club

Thank you for being willing to do a Facebook Live. You have meaningful and exciting information to share.

So, why not let other people know about it?

Doing some basic promotion to get people “in the room” doesn’t have to be complicated. Here are 3 simple tips to help.

Tap your current networks

Most people have access to at least one group of people invested in what they are doing.

These groups may include:

  • Connections on social accounts, including LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook
  • People you email with regularly
  • Readers of your blog or website

Why not let them know that you what you are up to?

To help you get started, we’ve put together a collection of images and sample language as a jumping-off point for promoting your presentation. We are calling this the “Promotional Toolkit.”

Tell people why

When you share the news with your networks, don’t just post that you are presenting. Authenticity, a personal touch, and removing the need for any guesswork make a big difference in the decision-making process. Tell people why this is big news and why they should care.

For example:

  • why you are excited to do a Facebook Live
  • why you are excited to disseminate this information
  • why this presentation will be interesting
  • what insights will people take away from your presentation

Keep all promotion short

As you know, attention spans are short; especially when it comes to reading on a computer or phone. You have less than 5 seconds to keep someone’s attention, and the default is to skim.

While it is important to share what makes your presentation interesting, make sure to keep your emails, website copy, and social media posts, as concise and to the point as possible. Don’t shy away from bullet points.

Feeling really creative? How many times have you been scrolling and stopped to watch a short video instead of reading the text? Record a 30-second video hitting the points from Tip 2 on your phone or laptop. There is no need to edit or do multiple takes. Remember, the more authentic it is, the better.

Hopefully, these hints and the materials in the Presenter Promotion Toolkit will make it easy for you to spread the word about your Facebook Live to your key audiences – people who are invested in you or interested in your club.
