We would not be able to help as many as we do without the individuals who participate in our annual fundraisers. Many give of their time and talents to make sure that the Ducky Derby and Caring Corner are a success each year, because the more we raise, the more we help. All funds raised help support the nine pediatric trauma centers in the Capital District.
The primary purpose of the Caring Corner is to raise funds to help support the nine pediatric trauma centers in the Capital District.
In the past the Caring Corner was a sale of new, handmade, unique, and vintage items not normally found in most retail stores. The Kiwanians attending the District Convention had an opportunity to purchase hand produced products at a fair price and contributed to a very important and life saving project of the Capital District Kiwanis Foundation.
In 2014, the Capital District Foundation Board voted on a new and exciting idea for the Caring Corner. It is the raffle of donated Gift Baskets. The Gift Baskets are donated by the Directors of each Division, clubs and individuals. The idea has evolved over the past few years with new ideas and themes for the baskets. We encourage clubs to assemble their theme basket to promote competition. Ask your local grocery store, city tourism bureau, local winery, local hardware store, etc. The themes are endless.
The Gift Basket Raffle is held at the Capital District Convention held each year in August. The Gift Basket Raffle displays all baskets in the caring Corner at DCON. Drawing is held during the House of Delegates on Saturday afternoon.
Ducky Derby Certificates are sold by Capital District Kiwanis Clubs. The event will take place Saturday at the District Convention. Prizes are awarded to the winning duck recipients.
